School Field Trips
Just another reason to visit Derg Isle is for our school field trips.
Our location is in the immediate vicinity of the Lough Derg “S.P.A” (‘Special Protected Area’). We are fortunate to have such an abundance of flora, fauna and wildlife in the natural environment. Our field trips are an important means of educating future generations about the importance of nature and the critical need to protect it. Our field trips can be aligned with the objectives of both primary & secondary curricula.
Visitors to Derg Isle can frequently see our resident Kingfisher family of birds as well as Mallard Duck, Tufted Duck, Mute Swan, Little Grebe, the Crested Grebe, Cormorant, Whimbrel, Common Tern and the Coot. Visitors have also sighted the famous Lough Derg Eagles fly around Scariff Bay.
